Project 1

Video II

In this film, I decided to make a more personal connection with my work in a way where I could know exactly what I would like to discuss with the viewer but allow them to make their own connections as they watch it. The idea was to get a close glimpse into who I am as an individual, my vision into who I was as a child and how that was affected. This is also mainly a video about my mom and who she was throughout her younger years and the relationship  that I have with her and how similar we are as mother and daughter as that has affected me with what my goals and aspirations are within life. While doing this project, I have learned who I have become and why I have such interest in the arts as she was all over that. While my grandma was a part of this video, my goals for this project have far exceeded my expectations in terms of what I thought I was getting as opposed to what I got. My grandma was a big part of my moms life as well as mine and to be able to experience all of these stories and visuals of ephemera with her made me step back in time a little as I am so glad to be able to live these moments with her.

Project 2

Video II

The idea of my performance is to bring awareness of the effects that climate change has on our everyday lives as well as on the planet. I incorporated Charlie Chaplin as a way to make fun of how we can be blindsided by the fact that we don't visually see the negative change that we put on our planet right away but it will show up in the reflection sooner or later. The negative actions that are done by the citizens impacts the globe and changes it drastically over the years. It not only affects us, but our animals and will soon affect the chain reaction which will cause us to not be able to access the nutrition that we sufficiently need. The way I documented the idea was achieved even with some switch ups in location but the point got across in the same way. This project supports my goals by the outside resources that I was able to incorporate into as a way to help explain my point concisely. Some goals that I think have helped me progress my videos in a more visually entertaining way is I was able to add more post production edits to make my transitions like my titles more interesting and eye-catching. My video touches on the political and social views based on real events. The variation of angles from low vantage points gives the viewer a different perspective in how they see the shot. Other shots that I have used are medium shots, close up and panning are all relevant and somewhat repetitive in my work as they fit within their respective places and fit in with what I am trying to depict in my video. Finally, the juxtaposition of me talking about climate change and then proceeding to kick the water bottle was purposeful to show how these plastic entities are invading our space and all we do is let them sit around and clutter our world because we are too lazy to righteously throw something away. So therefore I abruptly choose the ending shot to be that close up and awkward but leave the viewer with a motivational speech to inspire them to get up and do something as I hope the video did so too.
